Financial Support for Your Startup Idea

Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Open University (BAOU) invites applications under the Student Startup & Innovation Policy (SSIP 2.0) of the Government of Gujarat. This grant is designed to help you transform innovative ideas into working prototypes or Minimum Viable Products (MVPs).

SSIP 2.0: Proof of Concept (PoC) Grant | 2025–26 – Benefits

• Grant Amount: Up to ₹2.50 Lakhs per project.
• IPR Support: Assistance in filing Patents, Trademarks, and Copyrights.
• Mentorship: Expert guidance through the BAOU Innovation ecosystem.

Eligibility (Age Limit: Up to 35 Years)

Applications are open to innovators up to 35 years of age who fall into the following categories:

• Current Students: Any student currently enrolled in a BAOU program.
• Alumni: Any former student of BAOU.

• Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Open University secures education of those adversely affected by Covid-19 Pandemic, with effect from August-2021 Admission Session.
• Free-of-Cost education to individuals who have lost their parents to Covid-19.
• Free-of-Cost education to women who have lost their breadwinner father/husband/son to Covid-19.
• Refund of entire fees of students who lost their lives to Covid-19.
• Providing financial support of Rs. 11,000 to the family of a student of the university who lost his/her life to Covid-19.

• Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Open University believes that Indian Army martyrs are the most precious contributors of the Motherland India. To express the gratitude and tribute to the heroes of the country, the university provides free-of-cost education to war-widows and their children.
• This scheme is for the wives and children of Indian Army Martyrs.
• They can avail free-of-cost education for any one programme/course from the university.

• Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Open University has established 'Gargi - Centre for the Holistic Development of Women’ which works for women’s education, employment, extension, and excellence.
• The centre has commenced Gargi – Research Fellowship, following are the criteria to avail the scheme:
• The centre announces a ‘Call for Research Proposals’ to invite research proposals for a funded research project;
• The thrust area of the research should be concerning women;
• Female candidates with Masters Degree in any discipline can apply;
• Selected research proposals shall be eligible to undertake a research project;
• Each research project will have 6-months duration;
• Each research project will be funded an amount of Rs. 25,000.

• Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Open University has established Scheduled Caste-Scheduled Tribes Cell, under which SC-ST researchers are encouraged to undertake a funded research focusing on inclusiveness with regards to SC-ST communities.
• The cell announces a ‘Call for Research Proposals’ to invite research proposals for a funded research project;
• The thrust area of the research should primarily be concerning with marginalized communities, SC-ST communities and the efforts to make them a part of the mainstream society;
• Researcher should belong to Scheduled Caste or Scheduled Tribe with Masters Degree in any discipline;
• Selected research proposals shall be eligible to undertake a research project;
• Each research project will have 6-months duration;
• Each research project will be funded an amount of Rs. 25,000.

• Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Open University has established Dronacharya - Centre for Innovation, Startup and Entrepreneurship with regards to the Government of Gujarat’s Student Start-up and Innovation Policy (SSIP) to develop a startup and innovation ecosystem amongst its students.
• A student of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Open University can avail this scheme for his/her innovative ideas of startup and entrepreneurship.
• An all-inclusive grant of Rs. 2 Lakhs will be provided for the execution and development of unique startup and entrepreneurship ideas.

• Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Open University is eponymous to Dr. B. R. Ambedkarji, and strives to achieve the ideals of Ambedkarji by promoting and practicing equality and harmony in the society through "Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Samrasta Chair”.
• Through this Chair, ‘Samrasta Puraskar’ will be annually awarded by the university to 03 distinguished personalities or organizations who have worked at grass-root level and made significant contributions towards the betterment and empowerment of the weaker sections of the society.
• Through this Chair, 02 Fellowships will be provided every year to undertake in-depth study and research on social equity.

• Under Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Open University’s Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes Cell, 'Gujarat Asmita and Research Centre' is also proposed. The objective of this centre is to promote and preserve the unique traditions, arts and crafts of Gujarat.
• Through this centre, we intend to encourage, promote and certify the talents and skills of traditional artists and craftsmen living in rural and remote areas of Gujarat.
• The university shall provide a platform to these unrecognized artists and craftsmen in urban areas for exhibition-cum-sale of their art and craft.

• Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Open University works to achieve the ideals of Bharat Ratna Dr. B. R. Ambedkarji, and thus believes in the welfare of all its stakeholders and society.
• The university provides free-of-cost admission to any one programme/course to the immediate family members of its employees.
